The four Challenger Drag Paks entered for the event also claimed the top four qualifying spots out of a field of 26 entries that included some heavy-hitters and record-breakers.<\/p>\n<p>In the Stock and Super Stock classes, it was a pair of classic 1965\u00a0HEMI<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>-powered Dodge Coronet\u00a0\u201cA990\u201d package cars that ran fast\u00a0and hard and went to the finals. With\u00a0their high-horsepower 426\u00a0HEMI\u00a0engine, featuring dual Holley Carburetors mounted on a cross-ram intake\u00a0manifold, lightweight body panels and massive hood scoop, the 1965 Dodge Coronet A990\u00a0package cars\u00a0quickly earned a reputation on race tracks across\u00a0America for over 50 years and the\u00a0tradition continues today.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-17316 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/nhra-summit-nationals-recap-002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1170\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/nhra-summit-nationals-recap-002.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/nhra-summit-nationals-recap-002-614x262.jpg 614w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/nhra-summit-nationals-recap-002-768x328.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/nhra-summit-nationals-recap-002-700x299.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the Stock Eliminator final, Todd Hoven from Milltown, New Jersey, drove his\u00a01965 AA\/SA Dodge\u00a0HEMI\u00a0Coronet to a Stock Eliminator victory during the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. Hoven, who has a prior NHRA national event win and\u00a0numerous\u00a0divisional finals to his credit, was consistent all weekend. Hoven has been racing in the Stock\u00a0Eliminator\u00a0category since 1997 and has also competed in a Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak. In the\u00a0final\u00a0round, Hoven&#8217;s Coronet had the starting line advantage\u00a0over his opponent and ran a right on his 10.08 ET dial-in. The Columbus, Ohio,\u00a0resident has been racing his\u00a0\u201cDodge Material\u201d HEMI\u00a0Dodge Super Stockers for many decades and has earned numerous wins at the national event and divisional level.
