Wandering through the rows of Mopar<sub>\u00ae<\/sub>\nmuscle cars, I witnessed what felt like every rarity imaginable: high-end Dodge Challenger SRT<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\nHellcats, M28 Challengers, oddly optioned Macho Power Wagons, resto-mods,\nsurvivors and everything in between. Exploring garage after garage of this\nheaven on earth, I was convinced I had already seen it all. Once the bids were in and the car was sold, it seemed\nlike it totally disappeared, until now that is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m pleased to report this royal Barracuda is\nalive, well and being cared for in one of the coolest collections I\u2019ve ever\npersonally witnessed! When the car rolled across the online auction block, its\nseller didn\u2019t have all the juicy details on this freaky fish; luckily, her new\nowner has done his homework and was able to give us the inside scoop as to what\nmakes this one-off British Barracuda so special. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"601\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG003.jpg\" alt=\"interior of vehicle\" class=\"wp-image-31432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG003.jpg 601w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG003-491x327.jpg 491w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While a handful of these posh Plymouths were\nexported from the U.S. and delivered to Warwick Wright (an English dealership\nconnected to Chrysler through the \u201cRootes\u201d group), there is <strong>only one<\/strong> car (known to the public anyhow) that was optioned\nwith the drop-top convertible feature (coded \u201c27\u201d on the VIN). A thrill of its\nown, but the peculiarity doesn\u2019t end there. It seems like everything British is\na bit backwards to the American way; their roads, their food, their humor; so\nit\u2019s not the least bit surprising to see much of their cars are backwards, as\nwell. Aside from the obviously flip-flopped interior, every little piece of\nthis Barracuda was backasswards. Windshield wipers? Backwards. Firewall?\nBackwards. Oil filter!?! Upside down <strong>and\n<\/strong>backwards! Self-explanatory RHD modifications aside, the exported A-body\nreceived a few extra twists to comply with the Queen\u2019s laws. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1170\" height=\"781\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG004.jpg\" alt=\"vehicle engine\" class=\"wp-image-31433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG004.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG004-490x327.jpg 490w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG004-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/British-Invasion_IMG004-674x450.jpg 674w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional reverse lights mounted to the rear\ntrim panel, altered aircraft seat belts and the Union Jack wrap &#8211; okay, that\nactually wasn\u2019t upon request of the Queen but done over the factory red paint <strong><em>after<\/em><\/strong>\nthe car returned to America (these bloody yanks think they\u2019re so funny). Living proof that when referring to a Mopar vehicle, you shouldn\u2019t ever be quick to say, \u201cthey never built those\u201d or \u201cthat\u2019s impossible.\u201d From oddball exports to four-door HEMI<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> engine-powered cars, in the Chrysler community, <strong>anything<\/strong> is possible, and <strong>anything<\/strong> <em>could <\/em>have been built. It\u2019s all just a matter of how the original buyer checked the boxes.
