In 1980, Baker won the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, with an average speed of 177.602 mph, which was the Daytona 500&#8217;s fastest recorded average speed at the time and is still the record today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He later drove a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona at the Alabama International Motor Speedway and became the first person to break the 200 mph mark on a closed course with a speed of 200.447 mph.
