Jim\nMarrone, Mopar<sub>\u00ae<\/sub> enthusiast and&nbsp;co-founder&nbsp;of the Brat Pack Car Club in\nTampa, Florida, believes otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Largely\nbecause there\u2019s one sitting in his garage, albeit disassembled at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally, his &#8217;67 Dart was 1 of 228 factory big blocks, rebuilt&nbsp;with a 383 11:1 aluminum cylinder head motor and a 727 automatic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1171\" height=\"878\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Coming-Together.jpg\" alt=\"vehicle engine\" class=\"wp-image-37229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Coming-Together.jpg 1171w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Coming-Together-576x432.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Coming-Together-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Coming-Together-992x744.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1171px) 100vw, 1171px\" \/><figcaption>Assembled and painted <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nsay \u201cwas\u201d because this particular Dodge Dart has so many mods on it, it\u2019s\nlikely now 1:1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\nsaid a lot of the mods I made couldn\u2019t be done, because the car was only tooled\nfor one year \u2026 so the parts are not always interchangeable,\u201d says Marrone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But\nwhere there\u2019s a will, there\u2019s a way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marrone\nhas already moved the rear end back to accommodate larger wheels, put in a\nKeisler long-throw&nbsp;Pistol Grip&nbsp;5-speed, A\/C, and&nbsp;anti-sway bars\nfront and rear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut, even after installing the A\/C, it\u2019s still Florida, and the original engine just ran too darn hot.\u201d says Marrone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So Marrone set out to look for a cooler running, yet torque-packed engine. Kind of a challenge since big blocks designed for an A-body can be hard to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1171\" height=\"1560\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Raw.jpg\" alt=\"vehicle engine\" class=\"wp-image-37231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Raw.jpg 1171w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Raw-432x576.jpg 432w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Raw-768x1023.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Raw-745x992.jpg 745w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1171px) 100vw, 1171px\" \/><figcaption>Back from the engine builder in bare metal <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately\nfor Marrone, the search was not too difficult. His friend, Randy Bolig, who just happens to be the former editor of <i>Mopar Muscle<\/i>, was taking a 440 straight out of\na \u201973 Road Runner. And the guys worked out a trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another\nfriend had all of the internal pieces of a 440 six-pack motor, which he bought\nright up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trying to build the strongest motor I can and only do it once,&#8221; says Marrone. &#8220;And I want to be able to drive it anywhere I want, no matter what the climate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when it gets to that point, we\u2019ll highlight it right here.
