This\nweekend, however, there was the added challenge presented by the unique four\nlane race format that drivers haven\u2019t seen in almost two years. Hagan\u2019s efforts\nthrough three qualifying runs on Friday and Saturday rewarded him with a\nseventh place on the eliminations ladder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02886.jpg\" alt=\"Matt Hagan racing his funny car\" class=\"wp-image-50156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02886.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02886-576x384.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02886-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02886-992x662.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Hagan\u2019s first\nelimination run, clocked at 3.932 seconds and 329.42 mph, was his quickest of the weekend and good enough to\nbeat Blake Alexander and Chris Morel and move him on to the next stage along\nwith round winner John Force. The DSR Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye was\nquickest off the start and gave Hagan the win in the second quad elimination\nround with a 3.927 second pass (325.06 mph) over Tim Wilkerson, John Force and\nAlexis DeJoria to advance to the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00078.jpg\" alt=\"Ron Capps' funny car\" class=\"wp-image-50153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00078.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00078-576x384.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00078-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00078-992x662.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Facing off against his DSR teammate Ron Capps, Bob Tasca III and Wilkerson in the final quad, Hagan once again beat everyone off the start line with his quick reaction time (0.056 seconds), but saw a slightly faster Tasca edge him at the stripe for a runner-up finish to move him up into the fifth spot in the Funny Car standings behind his DSR teammate Capps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capps, for his\npart, had a tough start to his Vegas weekend after finding himself close to the\nedge of the ladder after two qualifying runs. However, the HEMI<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>-powered Dodge\nCharger SRT Hellcat driver put it all on the line with a solid 3.919-second\nfinal qualifying lap at 329.89 mph to make a big move up to the fourth spot\nfrom which to start his race day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00006.jpg\" alt=\"Ron Capps' funny car\" class=\"wp-image-50152\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00006.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00006-576x384.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00006-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-00006-992x662.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Capps\u2019 first saw\n(eventual event winner) Tasca in the opening quad along with Bobby Bode and Jim\nCampbell, where he drove to the round win and advanced to the next stanza.\nCapps added a holeshot win in the second round over Tasca, to eliminate Robert Hight, and J.R. Todd and move on\nto the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the third\ntime in a row, Capps found himself in battle against Tasca, as the pair were\njoined by teammate Hagan and Wilkerson. This time however, a dropped cylinder\nhampered his run, permitting Tasca and Hagan to battle for the finish line.\nCapps semifinal result puts him fourth in the point standings as the top Dodge\nSRT Charger in the Funny Car category after just two events into the 2021 NHRA\nseason. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A third\ncompetitive Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, driven by Cruz Pedregon, is in this year\u2019s\nFunny Car field. Looking to build on his Snap-on Tools team\u2019s semifinal finish\nat the season-opening Gatornationals, Pedregon qualified his No. 8 for the Four\nWide Nationals with a 3.960 seconds pass at 323.50 mph. Unfortunately, his race\nday ended prematurely with a loss in the first elimination round to J.R. Todd\nand Robert Hight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02439.jpg\" alt=\"Leah Pruett's top fuel dragster\" class=\"wp-image-50155\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02439.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02439-576x384.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02439-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2116-02439-992x662.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In Top Fuel competition, DSR pilot Leah Pruett qualified her Mopar Dodge\/\/SRT dragster in the top half of the field for a fifth consecutive event (dating back to Oct. 2020 at Dallas) but not without a bit of drama after an issue in qualifying saw the team play it safe by bringing out a backup car. Pruett rose to the occasion by qualifying seventh and then using a quick start in the opening round against her competitors to run a respectable 3.808-second elapsed time pass and advance to the next set against Torrence, Doug Kalitta, and Shawn Langdon. Pruett\u2019s run and day was cut short in the second round by a loss of traction soon after the launch. The next event on the 2021 schedule for the Mopar Dodge\/\/SRT contingent is the NHRA Southern Nationals, set to take place in Atlanta, Georgia from April 30 to May 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><a
