Especially when I started racing, I\u2019ve always been one to get down\nand dirty on anything.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking from his father\u2019s work ethic, Tom\u2019s first job came in the form of repairing farm equipment for his father. Soon thereafter, his father bought a racecar and began competing at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. \u201cThe number 76 came from my father, who chose 76 because he started racing in 1976. It also became an American pride symbol for the bicentennial of the country. Helping him on the racecar gave me the bug to get into it, and I got my first street stock racecar, competing at Stafford and Thompson, Connecticut.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"992\" height=\"661\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Outworkin_IMG001-992x661.jpg\" alt=\"Back end of a race vehicle\" class=\"wp-image-51710\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Outworkin_IMG001-992x661.jpg 992w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Outworkin_IMG001-576x384.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Outworkin_IMG001-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Outworkin_IMG001.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 992px) 100vw, 992px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1980s saw a big change for the entire Bolles family, in business and in racing. \u201cA gas station down the street from us went out of business, and we saw that as an opportunity to get into the automotive market,\u201d stated Bolles. \u201cOnce we got the hang of that, we looked at getting into the new car business.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the family business was solidified, a move to racing was next in order. Bolles moved into the Busch North Series and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, where he had multiple impressive showings between both series throughout the 1990s.
