{"id":51854,"date":"2021-06-14T14:00:33","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T18:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/?p=51854"},"modified":"2024-03-25T11:21:12","modified_gmt":"2024-03-25T15:21:12","slug":"dodge-caliber-its-whats-inside-that-matters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/heritage\/2021\/06\/dodge-caliber-its-whats-inside-that-matters.html","title":{"rendered":"Dodge Caliber: It&#8217;s What&#8217;s Inside That Matters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>What\u2019s more important: how a car looks to the people you drive past or to you sitting inside?&nbsp;I would argue the interior is more important than the exterior since that\u2019s where you spend your time.&nbsp;That\u2019s what you\u2019re looking at, what you\u2019re touching and where you essentially LIVE during your daily commute.&nbsp;Face it, you\u2019ll spend hundreds of hours a year looking at the interior, so when a carmaker goes out of their way to make the inside just a bit more special, well, that\u2019s something to celebrate.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dodge designers have done that for a long time, and it truly shows in the Dodge Caliber.&nbsp;From 2007 to 2012, Caliber models ranged from the standard grocery-getter to the light-your-pants-on-fire SRT4.&nbsp;Like the Neon before it and the Dart after, the Caliber was competing with the best small cars out there.&nbsp;To stand out, it had to do something special, and that\u2019s where the interior would shine, with special features and unique qualities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Chill\nZone<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you say your Caliber is cool, you\u2019re not kidding!&nbsp;The Chill Zone held four water bottles or cans and blew chilly air from the A\/C system, keeping your drinks cool.&nbsp;Now, you\u2019re not going to keep a half gallon of Rocky Road solid in there, but it\u2019s definitely better than sipping on a hot cola.&nbsp;The Chill Zone also made appearances in the Dodge Avenger and Dodge Journey, as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1170\" height=\"748\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG001.jpg\" alt=\"Passenger compartment in a Dodge Caliber\" class=\"wp-image-51857\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG001.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG001-576x368.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG001-768x491.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG001-992x634.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Music\nGate<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You roll up to the tailgate and someone blurts out, \u201cOh no, we forgot the boom box\u201d (for the youngsters, that\u2019s a portable radio often powered by those big D cell batteries!).&nbsp;Luckily, you\u2019re there in your Caliber, pop the hatch and fold down the MusicGate, part of the 458-watt Boston Acoustics sound system that included a subwoofer.&nbsp;Pivot them down and turn up your favorite boy band song.&nbsp;Music Gate was also available in the Jeep<sub>\u00ae<\/sub> Patriot and Compass.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1170\" height=\"757\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG002.jpg\" alt=\"Trunk speakers in a Dodge Caliber\" class=\"wp-image-51858\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG002.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG002-576x373.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG002-768x497.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Caliber_IMG002-992x642.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>MP3\nHolder<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a time after CD players and before\nBluetooth<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> where we\u2019d keep our music on MP3 players (to date myself, I still\nhave an original iPod<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, and it still works!). The interior folks molded in a pretty trick holder under the center\narmrest where you could keep yours hidden from prying eyes while connecting the\ncable to the sound system. Simple, smart.
