He bought it when he was just 14, found the parts and put it back together.&nbsp;Lots of work, no doubt, plenty of bloody knuckles and a lifetime of memories.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, one day in the \u201980s, he came home from work and Michelle dropped the bomb: \u201cHoney, I\u2019ve got news for you.&nbsp;We\u2019re having a baby and we\u2019re going to need a house.\u201d&nbsp;It\u2019s a safe assumption his anxiety level peaked.&nbsp;\u201cI was making $23,000 a year working in a garage for semis,\u201d Steve said. It wasn\u2019t long before he realized he\u2019d be hanging a For Sale sign on his prized Challenger.&nbsp;\u201cI cried.&nbsp;Michelle cried.&nbsp;Then she said, &#8216;One day, I\u2019ll buy you another one.\u2019\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep that in mind\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"481\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG004-e1647002533368.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Challenger\" class=\"wp-image-60246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG004-e1647002533368.jpg 640w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG004-e1647002533368-576x433.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the years between, Steve was always a \u201ccar guy\u201d and did what he could to satisfy his passion.&nbsp;There was a concerted effort to convert his extended family from the blue oval to Dodge \u2026 and it worked. \u201cMy son got a Scat Pack,\u201d Steve said. Then Steve got a T\/A. \u201cThat was perhaps my favorite car ever!\u201d&nbsp;Others started to take notice. \u201cFour of us wound up with Scat Packs at one point!\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"481\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG005-e1647002545850.jpg\" alt=\"HEMI engine\" class=\"wp-image-60247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG005-e1647002545850.jpg 640w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG005-e1647002545850-576x433.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Interesting sidebar: Steve\u2019s son was an accomplished kart racer and was seriously injured in a work accident.&nbsp;Doctors wanted to amputate his left foot, but as car people tend to do, he decided not to, instead choosing years of rehab to make sure he could still operate a clutch and drive his manual Challenger.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"404\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG006-e1647002483241.jpg\" alt=\"Cars lined up\" class=\"wp-image-60248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG006-e1647002483241.jpg 640w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/OhBaby_IMG006-e1647002483241-576x364.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As things car-related tend to go, there\u2019s always a desire for more.&nbsp;Tuning, customizing \u2026 and that\u2019s when Steve blurted out, \u201cI\u2019m SO excited about the return of Direct Connection! I\u2019m an engineer by trade and I wanted a tuning kit before they were even officially announced.&nbsp;I called everywhere to find out who was going to be my local Power Broker dealer.
