Since then, Boggess and the American Muscle Performance team have switched to a 420-cubic-inch SRT Hellcat-based engine block with forged internals from Demon Performance/TKM and a 2.7-liter factory IHI blower, fitted with the Hellephant Killer Snout and Xtreme Bearing Plate from SDG Motorsports. This new engine is equipped with a set of ThiTek ported cylinder heads, a Fore Innovations fuel system, exhaust headers from Kooks, a nitrous oxide system from Nitrous Outlet, a Legmaker carbon fiber cold air intake and a custom engine tune to run on VP Racing Fuels X98 from Brent Hughes at DTP Racing.

For Boggess to run in the 8-second quarter-mile range, she has to get away from the starting line with loads of force, which is made possible by the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat’s standard all-wheel-drive system. However, to handle all of the extra power, the Sipple Speed and Performance Max Effort HP95 transmission (billet stator converter, SSP Max Effort Billet E Drum, Extra capacity clutches) and Max Effort transfer case (upgraded clutches, steels, chain, bearings and pump) provide the durability needed to pull 1.43-second 60-foot times. Those high-performance AWD parts still connect to the factory differential housings, but Boggess uses a Per4Mance Development brace setup to protect the rear differential. The air temperature was around 68 degrees and the density altitude was around 1,500 feet. That is significant, as most records are run in cooler air and negative density altitude, but Boggess broke well into the 8s with positive DA. On that run, she had a 1.43 60-foot time, an 8th mile time of 5.768 at 126.297 miles per hour and a quarter-mile time of 8.871 at 157.661 miles per hour.

>

An hour later, Tina Boggess backed that up with a second 8.87 run.
