Matt\nHagan continued his impressive 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing series\nperformance Sunday at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Four-Wide\nNationals with his third Funny Car win in four events in the Tony Stewart\nRacing (TSR) Haas Automotive Dodge Charger SRT\u00ae<\/sup> Hellcat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hagan,\nthe three-time NHRA World Champion, qualified third in the 16-car field and\nadvanced to the final round with solid, consistent runs of 3.997 and 3.968\nseconds to set up a third finals appearance in the opening four races in 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competing\nagainst John Force, Tim Wilkerson and Chad Green in the final, Hagan posted a\nwinning time of 3.943 at 326.79 m.p.h. for his 46th<\/sup> career Funny Car\nvictory and extended his Funny Car points lead to 105 entering the next NHRA\nnational event at Charlotte, NC., on April 28-30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hagan\u2019s\nFunny Car victory was his second straight at the Strip after winning last October\nin the Nevada Nationals and his fifth Las Vegas triumph of his career. This is\nHagan\u2019s seventh win with Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) dating back to the 2022\nGatornationals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis\nis so special to share the winner\u2019s circle with my boss, Tony Stewart, and his\nfirst NHRA national win too,\u201d said Hagan after his third 2023 victory and\nStewart\u2019s first Top Alcohol Dragster win. \u201cIt\u2019s funny because I never followed\nTony\u2019s oval racing career, and I actually had to look up his achievements when\nI talked with him about this new team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter\nhe won here, he came to my car and said, \u2018Now it\u2019s your turn to win!\u2019 Wow, I\nwasn\u2019t feeling any pressure until then. But our crew, led by Dickie Venables,\nhas been so good this year that I just needed to be good on the line. And that\ncar ran strong to the finish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TSR\nteam owner Stewart, a three-time NASCAR Cup champion, captured his first NHRA\nnational event Sunday by taking the Top Alcohol Dragster victory. It was\nStewart\u2019s fourth race in NHRA national event competition. The Columbus, IN,\ndriver has now won at all four Las Vegas Motor Speedway tracks in 1.5-mile\noval, 3\/8-mile Bullring, Half-mile dirt oval and the Strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis\nis the most fun I have had in a long time,\u201d said Stewart in victory lane with\nHagan. \u201cMatt and his crew are doing a tremendous job with three wins already\nand Leah\u2019s (Pruett, Hagan\u2019s TSR teammate and Stewart\u2019s wife) crew has been\noutstanding in this early portion of the season. Yes, it is exciting to win my\nfirst NHRA national event, but the double is very special today.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pruett,\nthe 10-time NHRA national winner, recorded a solid showing in qualifying to\nplace fifth entering Sunday\u2019s eliminations with her Code 3 Associates\nDodge\/\/SRT Mopar\u00ae<\/sub> Top Fuel dragster with runs of 3.746, 3.747 and 3.753. In\nSunday\u2019s competition, Leah posted a 3.779 to win against three other drivers\nbefore falling in the second round with a 3.798 to eventual winner Antron Brown\nand Brittany Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur\nteam did a great job all weekend here in Las Vegas,\u201d said Pruett, now fifth in\nthe NHRA Camping World Top Fuel point standings. \u201cWe ran great times in the\nheat and the track was getting tricky. But Neal Strausbaugh and his crew really\ngave me a solid, strong car in every run here at the Strip. They work so hard\nfor me and our sponsors. I\u2019m pleased with the momentum we are making. Both\nAntron and Brittany are World Champions, and we ran right with them. So, we may\nhave lost that round, but we were so close to advancing to the next one. We had\na very positive weekend.\u201d\n\nCruz Pedregon, a four-time winner at the Strip,\nrecorded his second consecutive NHRA Camping World Funny Car pole position\nSaturday in the qualifying rounds for the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.
