Sunday\u2019s\neliminations were hampered by several rain stoppages which delayed the action\nthroughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1310\" height=\"883\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-in-Charlotte-qualifying.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-70208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-in-Charlotte-qualifying.jpg 1310w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-in-Charlotte-qualifying-576x388.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-in-Charlotte-qualifying-768x518.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-in-Charlotte-qualifying-992x669.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1310px) 100vw, 1310px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Pruett,\nwho qualified with a season-best of 3.678 and third in the 16-car Top Fuel\nfield, kept her stellar consistency record intact in the fourth straight event\nthis season with impressive round times of 3.702, 3.753 and 3.708 in the final\nround. In the four-car final, Austin Prock was the winner with a 3.684 followed\nby Leah\u2019s 3.708 and 329.99 miles per hour pass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nrunner-up performance, along with two semi-final showings this year, has\nvaulted Pruett into third in the current NHRA Top Fuel point standings as the\ntour heads to Route 66 Raceway in Elwood, IL, on May 19-21 for the Gerber\nCollision and Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1332\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dodgegarage.com\/news-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-leaves-the-line-at-Charlotte-2023.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-70209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-leaves-the-line-at-Charlotte-2023.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-leaves-the-line-at-Charlotte-2023-576x384.jpg 576w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-leaves-the-line-at-Charlotte-2023-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/test.api.dodgegarage.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Leah-leaves-the-line-at-Charlotte-2023-992x661.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would consider this year\u2019s Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals one of\nthe most extreme from pending weather knocking on the door to delays,\u201d said\nPruett. \u201cThe racing was a rush. We were extreme in the decisions we were making\nto a particular path that had shown promise. It showed the results in\nqualifying. Coming into race day, getting that first round in before the rain\ncame was huge. It makes you feel like there are two race days in one. There are\nless rounds in the Four-Wide, but it doesn\u2019t take any of the intensity away\nfrom it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud of my team. The parts have been put together well,\nand my crew chiefs are making fantastic calls. It\u2019s paying off and I\u2019ve been\ndriving my butt off. We\u2019re continuing to work on our combination. Hagan walked away unhurt,\nbut his three-race winning mount was finished for the weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nTSR crew, led by Dickie Venables, made the decision to pull out the 2022 Direct\nConnection Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat for the remainder of the NHRA competition\nat Charlotte, and the car performed well in qualifying with 3.866 run. Hagan left the starting line strong in that first\nround, but the car suffered tire shake. It was Hagan\u2019s first opening round loss\nof the 2023 NHRA national event series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite\nthe first-round loss, Hagan remains the NHRA Camping World Funny Car point\nleader with a 58-point advantage over second-place Alexis DeJoria, 433-375. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a real, rough weekend,\u201d said Hagan. \u201cPutting it in the\nsand trap kind of set the tone for how our weekend went and we had to pull out\nthe spare car. We had one body for Operation Healing Forces and Johnson\u2019s\nHorsepowered Garage, so it was tough to trash it. The track was a little better than we thought it was and\nmissed the setup a little bit. The tires shook and we pedaled the car, and it\njust wasn\u2019t enough.
