Garrett Reed<\/a> is coming to race in the Direct Connection Grudge Match in a car that was vastly quicker than any of the vehicles in the field in stock form. Reed is competing in a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT\u00ae Demon in conjunction with Matt Zubrick from 5 O\u2019Clock Garage, with additional help from Alex Chud and Ed Armbruster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon has been very popular on social media in recent years, but even if you shared pictures of it in the past, you might not recognize it now. This SRT Demon was previously wrapped in a lighter metallic green with a huge Cornerstone Performance banner on the sides and \u2013 more importantly \u2013 it featured a twin turbo setup on the 6.2-liter HEMI\u00ae<\/sup> V8 engine that led to over a thousand horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n

Of course, as is required for the 2024 Direct Connection Grudge Match, this 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is now powered by the twin turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Reed and his team replaced the stock turbochargers with a pair of units from HPT, which feed the engine through stainless piping from TiSS Fabrications. Pure Drivetrain Solutions built the 8HP75 transmission to provide quicker shifters and improved durability, along with installing a custom torque convertor. A Gulf Coast driveshaft sends the power to the rear wheels and Mickey Thompson rubbers put that power to the pavement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anderson Composites provides carbon fiber doors, hood, trunk lid, grill, splitter and side skirts to bring down the overall weight of this 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Inside, the team is running an AEM digital dash system from Holley; and Summit Racing provided an array of odds and ends needed for the installing, including various fittings, harnesses, a manual steering rack and more.
